Earthquake Strikes Philippines, Causing Tsunami Warnings

7.6-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Eastern Philippines

A 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck the eastern parts of the Philippines on Saturday, prompting tsunami warnings across the region. The epicenter of the quake was located about 100 kilometers east of the town of Borongan, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

Tsunami Warnings Issued

Following the earthquake, PHIVOLCS issued tsunami warnings for several coastal areas in the Philippines, including the eastern seaboard of Luzon and the Visayas region. The warnings were later lifted, but authorities urged residents in affected areas to stay away from the coast.

At Least Five Dead in Northern Philippines Earthquake

On Wednesday, a powerful 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck the northern Philippines, killing at least five people and injuring 130 others. The epicenter of the quake was located in the province of Abra, about 200 kilometers north of Manila. PHIVOLCS said the quake was likely caused by the movement of a fault line in the area.

Major Earthquake Strikes Philippine Sea

On Saturday, a major 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck in the Philippine Sea, according to the United States Geological Survey. The quake was located about 1,000 kilometers east of the city of Manila. PHIVOLCS said the quake did not pose a tsunami threat to the Philippines.
